DESCRIPTION

The Diesel-LPG Hybrid Technology is an electronic-controlled fuel management system that requires no major changes to your engine. The use thereof potentially provides considerable cost savings, an increase in engine horsepower, reduces driver fatigue and contributes toward a cleaner environment. The Diesel-LPG Hybrid Technology uses an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to allow the simultaneous entry of Diesel and small and controlled quantities LPG into the engine.

Diesel engines do not achieve complete thermal efficiency during the combustion cycle as it burns only approximately 70-80% of the fuel injected into the combustion chamber. Modern diesel engines, although more efficient, still have high emissions but do not achieve a 100% combustion rate.

IMPROVED COMBUSTION RATE

The introduction of a very small amount of LPG - 6-10% by volume - significantly increases the thermal efficiency of the engine, resulting in a 95-97% combustion rate, with typical overall fuel savings of some 15 to 30%.

With the Diesel-LPG Hybrid Technology, LPG is delivered to the engine in vapor form. Electronic injectors are placed on the low-pressure side of the turbo charger or directly into the inlet manifold and connected through a vapor line to an LPG Vaporizer, specifically designed for diesel engines. When the LPG and air mixture enters the cylinder, it becomes a catalyst for the unburnt diesel fuel.

SAFE FOR THE ENGINE

Various tests have shown that the introduction of precisely monitored amounts of LPG into a diesel engine does not increase combustion temperatures. As a result, there is no risk of damage to an engine. In fact, results of tests show a temperature decrease of 2% have been measured.

Engine damage prevention is based around the seamless return to diesel-only operation as soon as the ECU registers a fault in engine operation. LPG supply cannot be initiated without a signal from the ECU - the flow valve requires power to stay open.

Four key initiation triggers must register with the ECU before LPG is delivered to the engine. Any fault in these results automatically shut off the LPG supply and the engine would run on diesel only.
